Mercy Ships
Mercy Ships, an international charity based on Christian values, has operated a fleet of hospital ships in developing nations since 1978. Mercy Ships exists as a compassionate response to a world in need. On ships and land bases, dedicated volunteers bring their wide-ranging skills with the goal of making a lasting difference. Mercy Ships programmes promote transformational health care and well-being by serving the urgent surgical needs of the forgotten poor and empowering developing communities.
Mercy Ships Switzerland focuses on five main areas of activities: Fundraising and Procurement, Project Support, Communications, Network Platform / Hospitality, and Recruitment. Mercy Ships offers its services free of charge to the poor in developing nations without discrimination or prejudice to ethnicity, age, religion or gender.
Bryce Wagner, National Director of Mercy Ships Switzerland says: “the great thing about Bacula is, it just works. We know it’s up to the job, and we don’t have the worry of losing money by paying outrageous license fees. Mercy Ships Switzerland is completely happy to trust Bacula to take care of backing up our most critical data. This is key, because it frees us up to do what’s really important; concentrating on coordinating Mercy Ships in its work as an international charity.”
“We needed a backup solution that was solid and dependable, together with a ongoing support commitment that was responsive, effective, and deeply knowledgeable”. Bacula Systems provided us with exactly that.”
“Bacula Systems ensures that our data is safe”, says Bryce. “But another important factor for us, as a charity, was the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) of our IT deprtment. Bacula’s backup and restore platform, together with Bacula Systems’s commitment to us, represents huge up-front cost savings, as well as tremendous savings over time.”
Bacula Systems is proud to provide support to Mercy Ships Switzerland.
